SEAMEO BIOTROP Holds A Virtual Regional Training Course on “The New Concept of Weeds and Their Management”

SEAMEO BIOTROP, in cooperation with Tokyo University of Agriculture Japan; Biosecurity Queensland, Australia; Indonesian Weed Science Society; Indonesian Institute of Sciences; University of Lampung, Indonesia; and University of North Sumatra, Indonesia; ASEANET (ASEAN Network on Plant Taxonomy); and University of Carbondale, USA; organized a blended regional training course on “The New Concept of Weeds and Their Management” on 29-31 March 2021.

The event is implementation of the program of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan, . The training course featuring Soekisman Tjitrosemito, PhD, Dr Soetikno S. Sastroutomo, Dr Sri S. Tjitrosoedirdjo, Prof Dr Rie Miyaura, Prof Dr Nanik Sriyani, MSc, Prof Ir Edison Purba, PhD, Karla L. Gage, PhD, Dr Michael Day, and Dr Decky Indrawan Junaidi as resource persons. The training course is designed for university lecturers, researchers, technical staff of pesticide companies and national parks, and environmental program managers of relevant government dan non-government agencies of SEAMEO member countries.

A total of 215 participants from Fiji (4 people), India (25 people), Indonesia (133 people), Malaysia (7 people), Philippines (45 people) and Poland (1 person) joined the training course.
